The Good Life is a substance abuse treatment facility for men and women in beautiful West Palm Beach, Florida. It offers a program specifically designed to treat addiction and co-occurring disorders, as well as a variety of wellness modalities, 12-step incorporation and a focus on having fun in sobriety. The oceanfront property offers several choices for care. These include a co-ed residential program (which they call Day/Night Treatment), a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and a standard outpatient track as well as a sober living option they call Community Living.

Accommodations and Food

Clients of the Day/Night program live in the same facility as those who have transitioned into the Community Living program. The home can accommodate a total of 10 residents who are all in various stages of recovery. It features includes two full kitchens, washers and dryers and attractive furnishings. Residents share rooms and bathrooms with at least one other client, and build life skills by shopping for groceries and preparing their own meals.

Treatment and Staff

The Good Life offers individualized treatment programs for every client. A bio-psycho-social assessment determines where new clients fit on the continuum of care. The recommended length of treatment is 90 days, although the specific plan depends on the person. The Good Life doesn’t offer a detox program.

Day/Night Treatment is the most intensive phase, combining community living with a minimum of five hours of treatment a day, five days a week. Programming includes multiple group sessions a day, at least one individual session a week and regular AA or NA meetings. Peer support meetings are also offered on-site in the evening. There are groups that are specifically dedicated to clients who require trauma-informed care, pain management and those with co-occurring disorders that can include medication management services if needed.

After a period of about 30 days, clients can transition to the IOP, which meets three times a week for three hours of group. This phase usually lasts six weeks, though the total length of time in the program can vary. The outpatient program serves as a step down from structured living and intensive treatment. Typically, outpatient clients attend group once a week and one individual session a month.

Therapy methods in all programs include psychoeducationCBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and holistic approaches like exercise, nutritional counseling and massage therapy.

The staff is made up of Master’s-level therapists whose credentials include CADC and LCSW as well as a consulting medical doctor and RN.

Extras

The Good Life holds monthly alumni meetings to check in with all members who wish to attend. This gives former clients a chance to catch up with one another and talk about ongoing sobriety. There are also regularly scheduled alumni events like pizza, bowling, snorkeling and scuba diving.

In Summary

The Good Life offers structured care in a beautiful location in South Florida. The program provides plenty of choices for care and a good mix of evidence-based methods and peer support. This is a great choice for those who are looking for a treatment option in a warm climate that incorporates sober living and structured outpatient care.
