The Basics
Located in Grand Island, Nebraska, The Friendship House is a non-profit organization and small sober living for men. The home was founded in 1968 and is licensed by the state of Nebraska as a certified recovery home. The Friendship House is also CARF-accredited and provides extended-length stays between six and 12 months.
Accommodations and Amenities
The Friendship House is a 20-bed facility where residents stay in shared rooms with two to three other people. Each room comes with basic accommodations including twin beds, end dressers and closet space. The facility has on-site coin laundry, a living room and lounge areas with TVs and a full kitchen. Clients are expected to prepare their own meals.
Rules and Regulations
As with many sober living homes, residents of The Friendship House are required to abstain from drugs and alcohol and submit to regular and random drug testing. Residents are also required to get a job and attend regular 12-step meetings. All clients must complete an intake interview, be 19 years or older and be residents of the state of Nebraska. Those with severe co-occurring disorders or who are registered sex offenders are not eligible for residence.
Extras
The Friendship House also offers temporary YMCA memberships to all clients. The home also holds monthly alumni meetings as a form of aftercare for anyone who completes the initial program.
