The Basics

The Camden Center is a private outpatient rehab based in Los Angeles. The facility was founded in 2011 by Dr. Jason Schiffman, who is an expert on addiction and co-occurring disorders and also the founder and Director of the UCLA Dual Diagnosis Program. As a columnist for the Huffington Post and Psychology Today, Dr. Schiffman writes extensively on the subjects of addiction, anxiety and depression.

In addition to luxury sober living programs, Camden provides flexible outpatient care for those struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Treatment is also available for those with eating disorders, psychotic disorders and borderline personality disorder.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning treatment, clients go through an initial assessment process to help staff members develop their individualized treatment plans. Though all programs vary depending on clients’ needs, each generally lasts for 90 days with clients attending therapy at least twice a week. Treatment includes individual and group therapy with a wide variety of evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT and Somatic Experiencing. When appropriate, trauma-informed therapy, EMDR and medication management are also employed. Groups cover a range of topics including addiction education, vocational help, family therapy, anger management and domestic violence.

In addition to Dr. Schiffman, the staff at The Camden Center consists of LMFTs, LCSWs, psychiatrists, an occupational therapist and additional Master’s-level clinicians. Holistic practitioners on staff include a nutritionist/Chinese medicine specialist, Tai Chi instructor and massage therapist.

Extras

The Camden Center offers an integrative treatment experience that utilizes many holistic care options. These include acupuncture, yoga, massage therapy, nutritional counseling, Tai Chi and Qi Gong.

The organization also offers two upscale gender-specific transitional living homes, which are located close to The Camden Center offices.

In Summary

Overall, The Camden Center is an excellent option for men and women seeking treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders. Programs include evidence-based care and a number of holistic support services to help heal mind, body and spirit. For those in the area seeking a flexible outpatient rehab with top notch staff, the outpatient programs at The Camden Center are a great choice.

  1. My only regret is that I didn’t find The Camden Center sooner. After multiple hospitalizations and various treatment centers, my brother was referred to Camden for treatment. My brother had landed in a psychiatric hospital again after attempting to take his own life and after suffering from depression for most of his life. My family struggled to find a program that my brother was willing to go to and one that would create a program that was individualized for him. Camden created a program specifically for him, they hand-picked a treatment team based on his struggles and his disorder. They met with him and our family regularly to determine what changes if any were needed. At times, my brother became discouraged and hopeless as he tends to, and the clinical team at Camden supported him even more. The psychiatrist worked closely with him to determine if there were any medications he had yet to try and they also believed that medications alone weren’t the answer to all of his problems. He had a wonderful primary therapist that he’s still in touch with. It took time and patience but I feel like my brother is back. My family will be forever grateful, thank you Camden!
