The Basics
Taylor County Human Services is located in Medford, a small city in North Central Wisconsin. Providing a range of affordable programs for Taylor County residents, TCHS promotes and encourages the well-being of the local community. General mental health services and basic chemical dependency programs are available on an outpatient basis. As a public agency and department funded by the county government, TCHS is able to provide quality care that is both flexible and affordable for county residents.
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, all clients are seen for an assessment by the clinical staff who determine whether or not there’s a need for dual diagnosis support. In addition to chemical dependency treatment, TCHS also offers a DUI/DWI program for clients facing legal issues.
Counselors employ evidence-based treatment methods during both group and individual therapy, with both marriage and family sessions also available.
Groups include psychoeducation classes, DUI/DWI education classes, relapse prevention techniques and co-occurring disorders support. Clients are also encouraged to attend 12-step meetings to support their recovery and to develop a peer community.
Staff members include LPCs, psychologists and a psychiatrist.
Extras
TCHS provides placement services for clients that include housing and employment. Court-ordered support is also available for clients with DUIs. If clients need additional services, the clinical staff provides referrals to local community resources.
