The Basics
Tacoma Christian Counseling is a faith based outpatient clinic that offers a number of individual counseling services for teens and adults who are dealing with mental illness, like depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders and sexual addiction. Treatment and Staff
The treatment through Tacoma Christian Counseling can either be in an individual therapy setting or within group counseling. There are several co-ed groups in conjunction with gender specific counseling. Depending upon the client’s needs and information taken from the initial assessment, clients can be placed in a number of group therapy situations.
One of the gender-specific groups is the men’s sexual addiction recovery group, which offers a focused education and support atmosphere for men who are grappling with a porn addiction. This group specifically addresses sexual compulsion and uses modalities from the 12 steps, Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET). This group is typically has six to eight members participating with three weekly time slots offered, both in the day and evening hours.
The polar opposite to the previous group therapy offering is the children’s anxiety group, a weekly meeting that helps young people learn how to talk about their anxieties in a safe place, but also pick up valuable coping and life skills along the way.
Since Tacoma Christian Counseling offers myriad individual counseling services. There are program options for clients who have moderate mental illnesses to those who have continued compulsions. Each of these issues is met with a treatment plan that includes CBT approaches and relapse prevention techniques. Additionally those who are coming to Tacoma Christian Counseling who are in need of addiction services, like case management or medications, the staff is able to connect the client to the appropriate agency.
The 35 person staff is comprised of Master’s-level LMHCs, LMFTs, CSATs, LICSWs, MSWs and CSATs.
Extras
Christian counseling services includes couples, premarital and marriage counseling. There are also online therapy sessions offered for those who live out of the area or clients who don’t want to miss a session while they are out of town.
