The Basics
T.W. Ponessa & Associates Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic was founded in 1991 in response to a community need for affordable mental health care. The clinic has branches in South Central Pennsylvania with drug and alcohol treatment facilities in Ponessa, Dauphin, Lancaster, and York Counties. All locations offer basic outpatient care, but the Lancaster facility also has an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Clients with financial hardship are enrolled in treatment funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Department of Public Welfare.
Treatment and Staff
Ponessa begins with an assessment by staff which determines whether the Ponessa program is a good fit or whether they might be better served with a referral to a more intensive program (including detox and inpatient programs). This initial evaluation costs $220 while an evaluation for treatment is $175. Once admitted, an individualized treatment plan is developed which includes some combination of individual and group therapy. Ponessa also offers dual diagnosis treatment.
The staff is composed of highly trained psychiatrists, LADCs, CADCs, psychotherapists and LPNs.
Extras
The clinic includes a relapse prevention program, which consists of checking in with an individual counselor as a client transitions back into normal daily life. The treatment schedule and duration of treatment differs from client to client. This program can also be funded by state grants for those who are unable to make full payments.
