The Basics
Based out of Huntington Beach, California, Surf City Recovery is a small behavioral health facility that provides a range of programs for clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. All programs are discreet and customizable for a variety of needs. Treatment comes in standard outpatient, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) intensities.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, all clients go through an initial intake and assessment to help the staff members develop their individualized treatment plans. Detox is not available directly through the facility though referrals to nearby programs can be made as necessary. Each program varies but PHP is typically the most intensive option, meeting for full days up to five days a week. IOP typically meets several hours a day for three to five days a week and standard outpatient is more flexible.
All treatment includes individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based practices including CBT and DBT. While basic dual diagnosis support is available along with medication management, those in need of more intensive or medical oversight should seek additional help elsewhere. Surf City also facilitates life skills training, relapse prevention, case management and addiction education. Clients also regularly attend 12-step meetings as part of the program.
The staff at Surf City Recovery consists of LCSWs, LMFTs, CATCs, case managers and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
In addition to its clinical practices, programs also include a host of holistic modalities including spirituality groups, yoga, music therapy and surfing lessons.
Surf City provides drug testing services, free transportation and alternative sentencing programs for those sent to the facility through drug court.
