The Basics
Serving San Jose, California since 1990 the Support Systems Homes, Inc. Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center is a co-ed substance abuse treatment facility that provides detox, residential, day treatment and outpatient care as well as sober living homes. The SSH treatment approach utilizes the 12-step framework in conjunction with evidence-based methods of treatment (CBT).
Accommodations and Amenities
SSH has a total of 11 sober living homes throughout Santa Clara County, all of which are supervised by a house manager and an assistant who uphold structure and encourage peer support. Clients share rooms with two to five other clients. They sleep in bunk beds and are served three healthy, nutrition-conscious meals per day. They also have access to yoga practice and exercise equipment to work on their physical health.
Rules and Regulations
There is no set length of stay at SSH, and clients are invited to remain for as long as they wish. Curfew is 9:30 pm on weekdays and midnight on weekends and clients are allowed family passes at staff’s discretion. While living in one of SSH’s sober living homes, clients must be enrolled in and attending either the SSH outpatient program (which is offered free of charge) or an equivalent outside program. Clients must also be employed or be attending school during the day and engaging in recovery activities during evenings.
All residents meet weekly with an assigned counselor and must attend five community AA/NA meetings in addition to five on-site meetings each week. Each client must also find a sponsor within two weeks of admittance to SSH sober living homes and are subject to random urinalysis (a service which SSH extends to court referrals, employers, probation and other agencies). In cases where clients relapse and test positive for substances they are to be immediately discharged with no refunds.
SSH Sober Living staff consists of registered nurses, Licensed Substance Abuse Counselors (LSACs), clinical supervisory personnel and a physician.
Extras
SSH services include free family support programs as well as lifetime aftercare and alumni activities for program graduates, free of charge.
