The Basics
The New Jersey-based behavioral health network Sunspire Health runs addiction treatment centers in California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Oregon, South Carolina and Texas. Sunspire’s Hyde Park location is a women-only facility in Tampa, Florida. Named for Tampa’s Hyde Park neighborhood, it offers detox and inpatient care for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders in a beautiful historic home. The location recently expanded its services to include outpatient treatment in a modern office building right next door to the residence. Outpatient programs include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and basic outpatient treatment.
Treatment and Staff
The Hyde Park outpatient programs are only available to women who have completed the residential program at Hyde Park or one of Sunspire’s other locations. The outpatient phase of treatment can last four to eight months, depending on the client’s individualized treatment plan and progress. The most intensive level of outpatient care is PHP, which can include five to seven days a week of group and individual therapy for six to eight hours a day. Clients without a stable home environment are also provided with sober living referrals in the community.
After about two weeks, clients usually step down to the IOP level, which is three to five times a week for three to four hours per session. The final phase of treatment is the basic outpatient phase and can last up to three months. Outpatient includes one weekly group session and individual therapy once a month. Clients in all outpatient programs are also required to attend off-site AA/NA or SMART Recovery meetings.
Therapy employs evidence-based practices, such as CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Groups cover relationships, coping skills, grief and loss, spirituality, relapse prevention, self-esteem, co-dependency and healthy boundaries and anger management. Psychoeducation classes are also offered.
The treatment team at Hyde Park Outpatient is all women. They include a consulting MD, psychiatrist, nursing staff, MFTs, CADCs and holistic practitioners.
Extras
Clients can schedule attendance at on-site guided meditation sessions and yoga as part of their treatment program.

The outpatient programs at Hyde Park are a great option for women leaving residential care at a Sunspire facility or seeking a structured program while living at home. With evidence-based treatment, alternative therapies, qualified professionals and the benefit of a huge network that can offer access to a wide variety of services around the country, this is an excellent option for women in the Tampa metro.
