Treatment and Staff

Before entering treatment at Sunshine State, clients undergo a comprehensive intake evaluation that helps the team determine the most effective personalized care plan to meet the unique needs and goals of the individual.
While the duration of treatment varies depending on the needs of clients, individuals are encouraged to participate in 30, 60 or 90 day programs. Clients in the PHP engage in six hours of therapy a day Monday through Friday. IOP offers three hours of treatment for three days a week. Once completed with PHP and IOP, individuals typically transition into outpatient therapy that can vary from daily to weekly visits.
Each program follows the multifaceted, bio-psycho-spiritual approach to treatment that integrates medication management, evidence-based therapies, holistic methods, psychoeducation and case management. Clients participate in individual therapy, daily group therapy and case management. Group therapy covers a range of topics including life skills training, stress management and crisis intervention and is rooted in CBT, DBT, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help elicit a change in behavior by resolving individual ambivalence. In addition, the facility places a premium on relapse prevention and utilizes SMART Recovery techniques to motivate goal-setting. Clients also engage in the 12-step recovery model.
The Sunshine State Treatment Center employs a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals including a physician, board certified nurse practitioners, clinicians and therapists.
