The Basics

Headquartered in Coral Springs is Sunrise Sober Living; a co-ed transitional living program with four locations throughout Florida. Clients reside in homes or apartment style accommodations while participating in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) three days a week. Additionally, Sunrise is operated by chemical dependency counselors who are able to offer recovery guidance during their stay.

Accommodations and Amenities

The facilities have all been recently renovated and offer new furnishings, appliances and are situated in quiet, upscale neighborhoods that are safe with a family friendly vibe. In each apartment or house clients never share a room with more than one other resident, and units are available for couples and single clients. The facilities are co-ed, but unless the client is coupled up, units are shared with the same gender resident. Additionally, every bedroom has a Smart TV and a computer that the roommates share.

The bedrooms have two full beds and dressers provided along with closet space. Common areas like the living room have TVs with cable and Internet throughout the house. The kitchens have stainless steel appliances and marble countertops, all of which are new, and open dining room space along with a laundry room.

Rules and Regulations

Sunrise Sober Living’s residents are usually those who have recently left an inpatient program and are still looking for structured treatment elements with a bit more freedom, but still have that extra added support. Clients attend an IOP three times a week for about three hours and have mandatory house meetings every week. Additionally, clients go to AA or NA meetings within the community every day at first, and transportation to these meetings is provided.

Clients are expected to get a sponsor once they’re settled into the program, and find a job. Though there is a sense of personal freedom that Sunrise Sober Living provides for their clients, there is also an emphasis on accountability. There are regular chores around the units that clients have to complete and all medications need to be reviewed and monitored by house staff. Clients have to submit to random drug screens or risk being asked to leave.

The facilities are managed by staff who have been sober for quite some time and are experienced addiction counselors. They are available to offer guidance and assist with any issues or fears regarding relapse.

Extras

Some of the homes have swimming pools on site to which clients have access. There are also a number of social events clients partake in, like weekly cook outs, bowling nights, shopping trips and beach days.

In Summary

Sunrise Sober Living has staff that are very involved in the residents lives and root for their continued success. There is a strong community associated with these programs and the IOP gives that extra support boost. Sunrise is a valuable resource for those who are recent graduates of an inpatient program and are still navigating how to live a life in recovery.
