Sunrise Detox Fort Lauderdale Review

Sunrise Detox in Fort Lauderdale is one location within a large network of detox facilities across the country. It aims to reduce the stigma around getting help for addiction and promotes a philosophy of “Detox with Dignity.” Sunrise strives to provide an upscale and comfortable environment that’s supportive, safe and conducive to healing. Programming focuses on each person’s recovery goals in order to give him or her a healthy head start towards long-term sobriety.

Accommodations and Food

The Fort Lauderdale facility is a brand new building that offers state of the art, plush accommodations. Clients can reserve a standard room that sleeps two, or a private bedroom. Both are equipped with en suite bathrooms and full beds with hotel grade linens. There are large windows throughout the building that let in natural sunlight, and  plenty of places for socialization with other clients. Clients of course also have the option to stay in the bedrooms if they are experiencing discomfort and need privacy during detox. Common areas include a living room that has a fireplace and a large, mounted TV with cable. There are also several couches and chairs provided for lounging at any time, as well as an outdoor patio space where clients can smoke or simply take in the Florida sunshine.

The shared dining room is where an executive chef prepares and serves three meals a day. Food is hearty and delicious while also being well balanced. Between meal times snacks are set out along with coffee and tea.

Treatment and Staff

Incoming clients can expect to be in treatment anywhere between three days to two weeks, depending on the substance from which they are detoxing. They are medically monitored 24 hours a day, and each room has a call button just in case staff is not in close proximity and they need immediate assistance. During the first 48 hours when clients are usually going through the most intensive period of their detox process, there are more frequent check-ins with medical staff. As clients begin to stabilize and feel better, they can anticipate group therapy, psychoeducation, relapse prevention techniques and 12-step meetings. They are under no obligation to participate in anything and are free to keep to themselves throughout their stay.

Therapy approaches are evidence-based ones such as CBT, DBT, EMDR and Motivational Interviewing (MI). There are also sober activities planned throughout the days that are relaxed and encouraging. Clients are allowed to use their cell phones or computers while in treatment as the whole point is for clients to focus on themselves and their sobriety, but there are private phone booths available and staff can assist with anything the client needs to get done during their stay.

The Fort Lauderdale Sunrise Detox staff is comprised of Master’s-level counselors and medical staff. This includes RNs, MDs, Board Certified Psychiatric and Mental Health nurses, CADCs and MCAPs.

In Summary

Sunrise Detox in Fort Lauderdale provides a judgement free zone for those who need a leg up in getting clean and sober. The programs offers comfort and stability within an upscale facility with plenty of amenities that makes the experience feel more home like. Additionally, the staff ensures that clients feel like guests, not “patients,” which is a nice touch, especially when it comes to a detox facility.

  1. Mary Kittelson on

Sunrise Detox does not provide the treatment they promise. They don’t work with your insurance. They charge much more than $900.00 a day. My son went there for treatment and they tried to keep money we did not owe them. This started in July 2018, and we finally got a refund for they. Now they are trying to charge my son for over $4000.00 even though he never saw a doctor and was discharged early do to seizures he had been complaining about for 3 days. I have his records and you would not believe the lack of care. He ended up in ICU on life support to do their mistreatment. When he was released from the hospital, they refused to take him back. We had to hustle to find a new detox center. He ended up at Lakeview, and they were amazing. They properly filed with insurance. Between them and the hospital, our max out of pocket was totally used up. He is still in treatment today. All these people care about is money! Thank God my son did not die in their care.

It’s truly a blessing to have dedicated people working with the intent on help those who are currently, and hopefully only momentarily with the support and materials you provide, battling with the idea of going through life without something to numb or mask their pain. I wish you ALL, staff and all of you who were brave enough to take the initiative to seek a new path and a healthier way to cope with lifes tragedies, struggles and sometimes just moments of frailty. I wish you ALL the success in overcoming your situation and achieving future longterm success and stability! God bless you all 💪🏽🙏🏽
