The Basics
Founded in 1976, Sunrise Community Counseling Center is an outpatient-based behavioral health organization that offers flexible and affordable counseling to clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. While many of the programs available are aimed specifically at the local Latino community, all clients are welcome to attend. Treatment plans are individualized and flexible enough to suit any number of needs.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help the staff develop their care plans. On-site detox services are not available though clients in need can get referrals as necessary. The organization has three main programs, namely the 14-week Project Progressing Together (PPJ/PPT) for men and women 18 and older, a similar CBT-based program called Project Good Life (PBV/PGL) and a free program for 13 to 17 year olds called Project New Day (PND).
In all the above, treatment includes individual and group therapy with evidence-based practices which include CBT and DBT, though the specifics may vary. Dual diagnosis support and medication management services are available. When necessary, 12-step recovery principles are also included in the program. Groups cover a number of topics including life skills, relapse prevention, interpersonal communication, anger management, trauma-related issues, trigger identification and addiction as a disease.
The staff at Sunrise Community Counseling Center consists of CADCs, LMFTs, LPCs, case managers, psychologists and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Sunrise Community Counseling Center facilitates treatment and education services about sexually transmitted diseases like HIV and Hepatitis. Support services for LGBTQ clients are also offered as is GED tutoring and support finding permanent housing. Finally, those who complete a program can also work with staff members to develop step-down aftercare plans.
