Suburban Hospital Addiction Treatment Center Review
As part of the world-renowned Johns Hopkins medical network, Suburban Hospital Addiction Treatment Center has been offering outpatient substance abuse services with dual diagnosis support to adults for more than a decade. Suburban Hospital also offers its services to adolescents and their parents out of its clinic in Rockville, Maryland. Treatment and Staff
The Suburban Hospital Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is specifically designed for those with co-occurring disorders. It is separated into two phases—the first expects attendance of five days a week for six weeks while phase two requires clients attend two days a week for 15 weeks. Clients in this IOP begin by attending Mondays through Fridays, for a total of 30 sessions. The program runs from 10 am to 2 pm, offering two to three group therapy sessions daily, and individual therapy weekly. While in treatment, clients also attend educational sessions. They also get to be evaluated and consistently observed by a board-certified psychiatrist. Suburban Hospital treatment is not exclusively tied to 12-step it does use elements of the modality.
Basic outpatient services are offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays evenings from 6 to 8 pm and last 21 sessions, over seven weeks. Each meeting includes a 45-minute educational session as well as a one-hour group counseling session. This level of care is designed for those with full-time employment. The outpatient program does not include visits with a psychiatrist. Clients are expected to attend two to three times per week.
Suburban Hospital accepts 12 patients in its day program who are treated by three counselors who are all LCSWs. The evening program accepts nine clients to the same number of counselors. Suburban Hospital’s Addiction Treatment Center also employs board-certified psychiatrists and a registered nurse.
Extras
Upon completion of the IOP, Suburban Hospital offers aftercare for approximately 20 weeks, during which time clients attend a minimum of 20 group meets, at least once per week for two hours at a time.
In Summary
The Johns Hopkins Suburban Hospital Addiction Treatment Center has the credibility of it mother company backing it up. Its two outpatient programs offer significantly different treatment levels and specs, with its dual-diagnosis support IOP coming out the standout. As far as the financial aspect goes, Suburban Hospital accepts most insurance, making it quite accessible but even at a cash pay the whole 21 weeks of its IOP are available for a reasonable $5,000.
