StreetScene Review
StreetScene offers detox and residential treatment. Originally established by a former addict and her father in 1989, it is one of the oldest rehabs in the UK. StreetScene has several locations. It facilitates evidence-based treatment for anyone struggling with addiction and/or co-occurring disorders. The individualized treatment includes group and individual therapy. There is also an introduction to the 12 steps, along with medical and psychiatric care.
Accommodations and Food
There are three residences associated with StreetScene: Allington House, Francis House and Cornerways Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centre. All of these facilities are large, old style Victorian houses with up to 16 bedrooms. Each location offers single and double occupancy rooms. Many have en suite bathrooms, and others contain a sink.
The homes have lounges, tea rooms, dining rooms and kitchens. Several areas are designed for therapy or medical care. There are also laundry rooms. Some special extras are a garden, meditation spaces, and large open areas for group activities and exercise. All the homes are close to transportation and shopping. Residents enjoy Wifi, music systems, TV and games.
Meals are prepared on site by a chef from a fixed menu. Food is well balanced and nutritious.
Treatment and Staff
The residential program at StreetScene is 90 days. It can include a five to seven day detox. The detox regimen involves proper medication prescribed by a physician. Detox clients are supervised 24 hours a day to ensure their safety and comfort.
Treatment approaches are abstinence-based and utilize CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and trauma-informed care. Clients should expect daily group sessions, individual therapy, psychoeducational lectures, relapse prevention and aftercare planning. Group topics include body image, relationships, coping skills and grief and loss.
On any given day, clients participate in a series of therapeutic activities and events as a group. They’re given time for personal assignments and reflection too.
Over 50 staff members who coordinate care at StreetScene. The team includes medical staff, addiction specialists and residential techs.
Extras
StreetScene implements art and music therapy. The team also integrates Tai Chi, stress management, mindfulness and other therapeutic activities.
Clients go out on the weekends as a group to experience sobriety in a fun and relaxed setting. Gym access is available during treatment. Nature walks and team games are also on the agenda.

StreetScene is a unique treatment experience. It incorporates several different treatment approaches within a close knit community. The residences are upscale and elegant. Cients are cared for by highly trained staff. StreetScene has been in the business of helping people heal from their addictions for many years. It has a number of great successes due to its comprehensive programming.
