The Basics
Straight Talk, Inc. offers outpatient services in two locations, La Mirada and Cypress, California. These programs facilitate individualized treatment that address substance abuse concerns and co-occurring disorders. Counseling is offered to adolescents and adults though evidence-based approaches, like CBT, in addition to the 12 steps. Clients attend individual and group therapy, gender-specific groups, psychoeducation and relapse prevention. Straight Talk has been offering these programs since 1991.
Treatment and Staff
Every client beginning treatment at Straight Talk undergoes an intake process where group options are discussed and they are placed into one of the group cycles. The assessment also determines the client’s expected outcome and goals throughout treatment, with frequent check-ins to make sure they are meeting their goals.
Both locations offer a variety of support groups; including anger management, parenting and gender-specific issues for both men and women. Some counseling specifically addresses substance abuse in teens and adolescents. These groups aim to educate the child and their families about the physical and emotional ramifications of long-term substance abuse. Groups usually run between eight and 10 weeks and the facility offers flexible day and evening hours; however, because treatment is individualized, may continue treatment for longer. In addition to group sessions, clients attend individual counseling on an as-needed basis.
Treatment modalities vary but include CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). There is also an introduction to the 12 steps for the younger clients and elements of AA and NA throughout the program for adultw. Additionally, the facility helps connect clients to local meetings and sponsors.
The staff of Straight Talk are Master’s-level therapists with a background in addiction, along with LCSWs, psychologists and MFTs.
Extras
Additional services include school programs that are geared towards at-risk teens and adolescents. There is also a residential treatment program available through Straight Talk.
