The Basics
Stonesgate House is a luxury sober living residence affiliated with the Lakehouse Recovery Center, a residential and outpatient treatment facility in Westlake Village, California. Stonesgate has been in operation for two years and the majority of its clients are enrolled in Lakehouse’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Stonesgate accepts residents enrolled in other nearby outpatient treatment programs on a case-by-case basis.
Clients commit to residency 28 days at a time, and they can stay anywhere from one month to well over a year. However, Stonesgate and the Lakehouse treatment team make sure that residents are encouraged to move on to independent living or living in a sober living environment with less structure as soon as they’re able. An average stay at Stonesgate is two months. Instead of a “step-down” program, Stonesgate refers to itself as a “step up,” meaning that clients are encouraged to implement their recovery tools and embrace responsibility and autonomy in recovery.
Accommodations and Amenities
The Stonesgate home is situated on wooded grounds within walking distance to the Lakehouse treatment center. The home has two private bedrooms and two shared bedrooms. For recreation, clients can use the house pool and jacuzzi and watch TV and play games in the living room. Clients also have access to the Lakehouse center, where they can use kayaks on the lake and exercise in the facility gym.
Stonesgate employs a gourmet chef who prepares three meals and healthy snacks each day. Residents may invite other recovery community members over for meals, in which case they’re encouraged to help the chef with food preparation.
Rules and Regulations
Clients must attend group and individual therapy daily at the IOP or Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) level of care. After treatment, Stonesgate House transports clients to 12-step meetings; clients must attend seven meetings each week.
Residents can use laptops and cell phones as long as they’re participating in treatment and completing recovery homework and attending peer support meetings. As they progress, the earn privileges for weekend visiting passes.
Since Stonesgate House is a more structured environment than most sober livings, clients don’t have a curfew, per se, but return home each evening after peer support meetings.
Extras
Clients meet with a case manager once a week to create an aftercare plan, such as a less structured sober living or living at home while attending outpatient treatment. Stonesgate alumni visit the house each week to offer guidance and support to residents. The residence is also one of the only pet-friendly sober living facilities in the area.

In partnership with the Lakehouse Recovery Center, Stonesgate House provides comfortable and supportive sober living to those in early recovery. After attending full days of treatment, clients can return to Stonesgate House to relax, socialize and participate in recovery activities in the quiet, well-appointed home.
