The Basics
Danzig Interventions is based out of Windham, Maine but the founder, interventionist Steve Danzig, travels anywhere in the country to facilitate intervention services for substance abuse and addiction. In addition to his intervention services, counseling services for mental health issues are also available.
Danzig is a Master’s-level LCSW, Certified Clinical Addiction Specialist (CCAS) and LADC. Also a member of the National Association of Social Workers as well as a member of the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors, Danzig also holds additional certifications in regression therapy, guided meditation, relaxation therapy and deep memory processing.
Danzig is certified to work with co-occurring disorders and can also provide dual diagnosis support. An independent services provider, Danzig travels anywhere in the country to help families and their loved ones. Staying current with the latest developments and techniques, Danzig designed a holistic treatment approach to enhance the intervention and recovery process.
The Background
Danzig founded his company in 2004 after working with substance abuse facilities for 20 years prior. Working closely with families and individuals who needed more help with the initial steps towards getting into treatment, Danzig began exclusively providing interventions.
The Approach
Danzig provides a start-to-finish process with intervention, escort and treatment consulting services. Taking the steps to minimize the fear and stress around confronting a loved one, Danzig enables families to focus on being supportive to their loved one. Working together as a team is essential to the recovery of the individual as well as the family.
To begin, a set of meetings are scheduled with the family members and support team to get an accurate picture of the addicted individual including history, substances used and patterns of behavior. The intervention team and family members then create individual personal statements to read to the individual. All approaches focus on love, support and a caring attitude as opposed criticizing, blaming or shaming. Once a time is established and an appropriate treatment facility arranged for, the intervention occurs.
Upon accepting the help offered, clients are transported by the Danzig escort services team from door to door. After the individual has arrived, the escort team notifies the family and provides a detailed report. The team stays in contact with the family and treatment facility to ensure the master treatment plan is still going well. When the individual has completed treatment, the escort team then transports them safely home or to their next treatment facility as planned. This includes continuing care programs, sober living or a transitional care facility.
Working to get the family to a healthy space is as important as the primary client recovering. Alanon and 12-step fellowships are recommended for the individual as well as the family as an additional resource.
Post-Intervention and Summary
Danzig Interventions is an independent organization that connects clients with a variety of treatment facilities. Facilities are selected to best suit the family and individual. Danzig works with the clients and their families for as long as the process takes. Referrals for aftercare and sober living arrangements are available if the individual needs additional care following treatment.
