Stepworks Recovery Centers Review
Southeastern Kentucky’s Stepworks Recovery Centers offers a full continuum of treatment with several locations located throughout the state. Treatment services include detox, residential and outpatient care using the 12 steps as the foundation for programming. The CARF accredited residential treatment is in a safe, structured environment and designed for those who are struggling with addictions or co-occurring disorders.
Accommodations and Food
The living quarters for clients during their 30 day stay are all private, campus-like environments that offer dorm style accommodations. Of the five locations, only two are gender-specific, while the rest have separate areas for men and women within the same building.
All of the facilities have several common areas, kitchens that serve all meals prepared by staff, and exercise and recreational spaces. Clients are not permitted to bring cell phones or laptops to treatment, but there is a computer room and a shared phone that is open for use when there are not any treatment activities going on. There are also washers and dryers on site.
Treatment and Staff
After the initial assessment that determines the level of care needed, incoming clients have a physical exam and psychological intake performed. Clients who are in need of detox receive 24 hour care and medications to help ease them through the initial stages of this process. During this phase there are some group therapy provided, and those feeling physically up to the task participate in these meetings and start acclimating to the program.
Every client has an individualized treatment plan that includes several group and individual sessions on a weekly basis. During these sessions clients set their recovery goals, discuss their history with substance abuse, explore past traumas and learn about relapse prevention. Therapeutic approaches include CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and more. Stepworks also offers medication management for clients dealing with a co-occuring disorder.
The treatment team at Stepworks in comprised of a medical director, LPC and CADC. The staff maintains contact with their clients primary treatment team in order to coordinate care.

The family program at Stepworks include a series of therapy sessions set up by the client.
