The Basics
Stepping Stones Treatment Center of Joliet, Illinois is a private, not-for-profit treatment facility that provides individualized care to adult men and women. In addition to its residential offerings, Stepping Stones also has an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) as well as standard, step-down outpatient treatment based on the 12 steps. All programming incorporates individual and group therapy, developing coping skills and aftercare planning. Treatment is available to clients with a primary diagnosis of substance use disorder and/or co-occurring disorders.
Treatment and Staff
Most of Stepping Stones’ outpatient clients have either participated in its residential program or have finished inpatient treatment elsewhere. However, neither is a requirement for being admitted. There is an extensive intake process where an individualized treatment plan is devised, along with placement in either the IOP or outpatient program.
The IOP requires a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, in addition to weekly drug tests and mandatory attendance at outside AA/NA meetings four times a week. This level of treatment usually lasts about two months with the continuation of treatment taking place in the step down outpatient treatment, which is mainly group or individual therapy once a week. Both tracks offer flexible hours so clients can maintain personal and professional obligations
Group therapy focuses on relapse prevention, anger management, coping skills and maintaining physical health. There are also medication management services offered for dual diagnosis clients.
The staff is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team of addiction specialists including psychiatrists, LPCs, LCDCs and case managers.
Extras
Family participation is encouraged throughout the course of treatment. Stepping Stones facilitates a weekly family program that offers group education and counseling, along with family conferences and a connection to Alanon and other community support groups. There are also aftercare services including weekly counseling and social meet ups.
