The first phase includes a five to seven day detox period followed by a short stabilization period. The following steps are the PHP and IOP. The PHP phases is a six to eight hour day at the facility, and the IOP, the next step down, is three to five hours per day. These days are comprised of group therapy, psychoeducational classes and a 12-step support meeting. During the PHP and IOP stages, clients are living off campus about a mile away, so the facility provides daily transportation.
Therapy approaches are individualized and include methods like CBT and DBT, as well as holistic modalities and spiritual elements, like Big Book study. Daily educational lectures cover relapse prevention, nutrition and psychiatric services like individual therapy and medication management. Flexible individual sessions that can be scheduled per the clients needs.
The Master’s-level therapists of Stepping Stone include LMFTs, LCSWs and CSACs. There is also a staff psychiatrist, psychologist and caseworkers rounding out the clinical team.
Extras
There are plenty of recreational activities and outings scheduled weekly, like going to a gym to work out, taking a pottery or yoga class or playing ping-pong. Every Saturday the clients take a trip off campus to have a beach day, go bowling or attend a dance class.
Aftercare planning is an essential element to the programs offered at this facility. This can include connection to a sober living facility or a 12-step community in the client’s hometown. There are also ongoing alumni support programs that include weekly meetings and monthly meet-ups.
