The Basics
The Step Up Support Center is an outpatient facility located in Little Rock, Arkansas. This not-for-profit organization was founded in 1992 and offers long-term Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and step-down outpatient treatment for adolescents and adults. Clients can expect group and individual therapy as well as 12-step recovery. It also offers relapse prevention and coping and life skills, along with homeless and other outreach and educational services.
Treatment and Staff
The substance abuse programs begin with an intake assessment. The programs consist of two group therapy sessions a week and one individual session. Groups are in the evenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays and run for about two hours. They focus is on relapse prevention, coping skills, anger management and parenting. The substance abuse program is based on the 12-step philosophy and includes literature for younger clients and their families.
The adolescent program involves the family or a family member throughout treatment. Additionally, it includes a gang intervention and after school program, which is Monday through Friday afternoons and includes a healthy snack.
Depending on the severity of the addiction, this facility is also able to offer referral services to clients for resources that can provide shelter and medical care. Step Up Support Center’s programs treat clients with a primary diagnosis of substance abuse; as such, clients struggling with a dual diagnosis might consider seeking additional outside help.
The staff at The Step Up Support Center include a CADC, LPC and case managers.
Extras
Specialty programs include job training and placement, neighborhood support programs and mentoring programs. There is also a family program every Saturday. Additionally, The Step Up Support Center facilitates a homeless outreach project that provides transportation, a food and clothing pantry as well as psychoeducation and counseling for addiction.

The treatment is supportive, 12-step-based and the staff can provide referrals to outside agencies if needed.
