The Basics
Located in the Palm Beach suburb of Riviera Beach, Florida, Step by Step Treatment and Recovery is an outpatient program for men and women struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The facility welcomes clients seeking treatment for the first time or ones who need continued support after completing an inpatient program. Its individualized treatment plans consist of group and individual therapy with an optional family component. It offers a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) with both day and evening hours, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and a standard outpatient track for adults. The facility also offers referrals to sober living residences in the community.
Treatment and Staff
All programs begin with an assessment to determine the duration and frequency of treatment. The minimum length of care is 30 days but clients can attend longer if needed. The PHP consists of attending group and individual therapy a minimum of 20 hours a week. Groups are offered Monday through Friday between 10 am and 2 pm or from 5 to 9 pm. One-on-one and family sessions are scheduled separately. The IOP consists of eight to 12 hours a week and the standard outpatient track, though mostly dependent on the individual plan, typically meets for two to three hours a week.
Step by Step’s approach to recovery utilizes evidence-based practices and incorporates the 12-step philosophy. Therapeutic modalities like DBT, CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) are used. Gender-specific and other specialized groups are available, such as clients dealing with trauma, chronic relapse and mood disorders. Psychiatric consultations and medication management are provided on site.
Step by Step staff includes MFTs and LCSWs, some of whom are also in recovery.
Extras
A multi-family group meets on the last Friday of the month. Referrals can be provided for family members for counseling and support groups in the community.
