The Basics
With locations in Yulee, Hilliard and Fernandina Beach, Florida, Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare provides a range of outpatient substance abuse and addiction treatment services, along with support for clients with co-occurring disorders. Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare also provides ambulatory detox, which includes Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) using Suboxone and Vivitrol.
Treatment and Staff
Prior to admission, clients undergo a comprehensive assessment with staff and receive individualized treatment plans. The MAT program is designed for clients who are experiencing withdrawal symptoms from opiates and/or alcohol. During the first week, clients see a doctor on a regular basis to ensure that their adjustment phase is successful.
Clients attend treatment Monday through Friday. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) weekly track is nine hours, while the standard outpatient program is six. Both employ evidence-based modalities in group and individual therapy. Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare does not use a 12-step approach to recovery. Case management is offered at no additional charge and designed to help clients make a smoother transition back into society.
Group topics include relapse prevention, healthy boundaries, addiction education, trauma, coping skills and co-occurring disorders, and range in size but usually treat between five and 10 clients per session. Individual counseling is typically once a week and focuses on more personal issues.
It also offers a gender-specific program for women, offered at no cost to pregnant and postpartum women, which implements the theme of self-empowerment. Additionally, an outpatient track for teens offers education about substance abuse triggers, high-risk behavior and relapse prevention. Clients with co-occurring disorders that require psychiatric services must be referred by a therapist. Medication management is also available.
Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare has 50 employees on board and 25 are Master’s-level or Doctorate-level professionals. The staff includes board-certified psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, LMHCs, LCSWs, certified addiction professionals, case managers and administrative support.
Extras
Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare has two drop-in clinics for financially-challenged and homeless clients. These facilities provide hot meals, mental health counseling and a peer support network.
