Start2Stop is a London based addiction treatment program. It offers residential and outpatient care along with aftercare that can include sober living. The Mews House is Start2Start’s primary program. It incorporates the 12 steps, holistic approaches and evidence-based protocols for adults. A three prong treatment plan that often picks up where a more intensive inpatient program leaves off, the goal is to help clients adjust to life in recovery. Start2Stop treats adults suffering from all types of addictions. Those struggling with eating disorders or other co-occurring disorders are welcome.
Accommodations and Food
The Mews House is located in the upscale South Kensington area of London, close to several restaurants, shopping and job opportunities. An eight bed, co-ed facility, the bedrooms are double occupancy with en suite bathrooms.
There are several lovely common spaces, such as the sitting room with a mounted TV, Wifi and cable, as well as an elegant dining room and kitchen. Clients are responsible for their own food throughout the week with the exception of Sunday evenings when they have dinner together.
Treatment and Staff
The Mews House is a long term program with a primary track followed by secondary and tertiary treatments. This program is designed for those who have gone through an initial stage of treatment, such as detox or intensive inpatient, but still need help adjusting to sobriety. During their time at The Mews House residents attend step-down programming while having the option to work.
In the initial stage, clients attend daily treatment and evening sessions. Sessions include process groups, goals groups and expressive arts therapies, such as psychodrama and art therapy. There are also weekly individual sessions with a primary counselor. Psychiatrists visit for medication management. This is referred to as the day program, which entails about 30 hours a week of treatment. During this stage, clients must attend a minimum of five 12-step meetings during the week, and complete written assignments.
The tertiary program can be an ideal step-down from secondary, or as an initial step for clients who were in an extended program abroad. This stage incorporates acclimating to work and other day to day tasks, starting to look for permanent housing and generally having more freedom.
During all stages of this program therapy can include CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
The Mews House treatment team includes SACAP, FDAP, CACAB and psychologists.
Extras
The Mews House has an in-depth aftercare program of weekly group therapy, as well as an extensive family program.
Some holistic activities include yoga, Kirtan Chanting and mindfulness meditation.
