Star View Community Services, a division under the umbrella of Stars Behavioral Health Group, offers community based wrap around programming for adults and adolescents who are experiencing a variety of mental health issues, including addiction and co-occurring disorders. These treatments are offered in several locations throughout Southern California and facilitated by mental health professionals who work with families and educational establishments to provide comprehensive, long term care solutions.
Treatments and Staff
One of Star Views signature programs known as TEAMMATES employs a “whatever it takes” approach, with the main objective being that all clients remain in school and with their families while undergoing treatment. They offer individualized programming and use a strength based approach with evidence-based practices.
Clients have access to psychiatric and psychological assessment and services, transportation, and special education support. Group and individual therapy are offered along with psychoeducation and skills training, which can include coping and life skills, and in some cases vocational.
Additionally, Star View provides their clients and families with access to outside agencies, like medical and dental, and mentoring programs. There is also a program called the TAY Spot, for transitional age youth, which is a clubhouse of sorts that provides a safe and supportive place for young people to go to when to relax and enjoy amenities like computers, a pool table and games, and is staffed with caseworkers and LCSWs who are there to talk and offer guidance in a less structured way.
Star Behavioral Health Group uses evidence-based therapy approaches throughout their programs. These methods include CBT, DBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and some expressive treatments, like play therapy, music and art therapy. In many cases treatment is trauma-informed. Some clients also receive medication management services through Star View as well.
There is a large and experienced staff that offer their services to the Star View program, including psychiatrists, psychologists, LMFTs, medical doctors, addiction specialists and therapist who specialize in working with mental health disorders in adolescents.
Family counseling and education is offered along with school based services.
Star View Community Services in conjunction with the other Stars Behavioral Health Group programs provides extensive community services to those who live within LA County. It’s an invaluable, affordable resource that helps families find supportive solutions for their children and loved ones who may be struggling with debilitating mental illnesses and substance use disorders.
