Stars Behavioral Health Group: Casa Paseo Crisis Residential Treatment Center Review
Stars Behavioral Health Group offers community based mental health treatment programs throughout California. The Casa Paseo Crisis Residential Treatment Center is a short-term inpatient facility located in San Bernardino County and serves clients who are 18 to 59 as they stabilize during a mental health crisis. Programming includes psychiatric care, medication management and step-down services for treatment of a variety of mental health disorders including addiction and co-occurring disorders.
Accommodations and Food
The 11,000 square foot building provides a comfortable, home-like atmosphere on a three acre campus that also includes the young adult STAY CRT. Clients sleep in double occupancy bedrooms furnished with twin beds and private bathrooms. There is also a large common kitchen and dining area, living room with TV, library, family room and laundry facilities. Additionally, the building houses staff offices, medical exam rooms and classrooms along with a large therapy room.
Treatment and Staff
The maximum time that clients can reside at Casa Paseo is 90 days. During their stay client participate in a number of group sessions, life skills training classes and have access to a variety of services from medical to vocational to housing placement.
Groups cover topics like anger management, parenting skills, psychoeducation about addiction, domestic violence and independent living skills. There are also several individual sessions weekly where clients work with their case manager on their aftercare goals and continued care after they leave the facility.
Treatment is evidence-based and offered by psychiatrists, LCSW, LMFT and Masters-level psychologists. Treatment includes CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) EMDR and trauma-informed care, just to name a few of the many modalities. Medication management and psychiatric assessment are standard practices at this facility as well.
Extras
The step-down aftercare services may include the outpatient treatment offered through the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health, which can be offered through referrals.

Many of The Casa Paseos clientele come to this facility as an alternative to incarceration or involuntary hospitalization. In this program they not only have access to valuable treatment services for stabilization, but also life training skills that serve them for the long term, none of which they would receive in the aforementioned facilities. This program saves many lives of adults who have struggled for a long time with their mental illness by preserving their dignity and offering an alternative, healthier path.
