The Basics
Part of the expansive network of the Valley Hope Association, a nationally-recognized non-profit founded in 1967, St. Louis Valley Hope is a drug and alcohol outpatient treatment facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Valley Hope incorporates a holistic approach to treatment, assisting all clients to recovery physically, mentally and spiritually. Detox services and residential treatment are also available for those seeking a continuum of care.
Treatment and Staff
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) generally meets three days a week for a total of 10 hours. Though the majority of that time is spent in group therapy, clients attend one hour of individual therapy to address their specific issues in more depth. Further one-one-one counseling outside of the program is also encouraged.
Treatment is evidence-based and typically includes CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI), though each plan is individualized based on each client’s needs. Though the program is not based in 12-step recovery, groups often cover AA/NA related topics and principles. St. Louis Valley Hope is not equipped to treat clients with severe co-occurring disorders; however, those battling mild depression and anxiety are welcome.
Staff consists of LPCs, Master’s-level therapists and CRADCs, Missouri’s state-level certification for drug and alcohol counselors.
Extras
The continuing care track, essentially an aftercare program, consists primarily of an hour of weekly group therapy for an undetermined length of time. Topics are a continuation of issues addressed in outpatient, as well as relapse prevention strategies.
Other services include drug and alcohol assessments, social alumni groups and a free family therapy group once a week. The family group is open to clients in the program as well as the local community and is mostly limited to educational discussions about the disease of addiction.
Valley Hope also operates another facility in nearby Boonville that provides medical detox and residential treatment.
