The Basics
Based out of Atlanta, Georgia, St. Jude’s Recovery Center is a CARF-accredited facility founded in 1962. It provides a wide range of treatment programs for men and women struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. The organization offers a full continuum of care that includes detox, residential treatment and sober living, as well as a flexible outpatient program.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning outpatient treatment, clients undergo an initial assessment to help the staff develop an individualized treatment plan. Those in need of detox are referred to the organization’s nearby inpatient detox unit, which has a total of 24 beds available and generally lasts for 16 days. While this facility is equipped to support clients in withdrawal and those in need of 24-hour supervision, its services are considered sub-acute and therefore some may be better served in a psychiatric hospital.
While the specifics of outpatient plans may vary, each generally lasts for eight to 10 weeks and includes individual and group therapy. Treatment is evidence-based and includes CBT and DBT, though clients also learn about 12-step recovery and are required to attend regular AA/NA meetings. Groups cover a range of topics including life skills, parenting practices, job readiness, addiction education and relapse prevention. Support for clients with a dual diagnosis is also available.
The staff at St. Jude’s Recovery Center consists of LPCs, LCSWs, case managers, RNs and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
In addition to the above, clients can also receive other standalone services like basic healthcare (including medication management), family therapy and employment assistance. As mentioned, St. Jude’s Recovery Center also provides, residential treatment, sober living and aftercare.
