The Basics
With locations in the southeastern Kansas towns of Riverton and Columbus, Spring River Mental Health and Wellness Inc is a non-profit behavioral health organization. Spring River offers outpatient treatment programs for addiction and co-occurring disorders. It has treated residents of Cherokee County since 1981, with a number of different programs available for court-ordered and self-referred clients.
Treatment and Staff
For those not referred by an outside agency, clients must first go through an initial intake and assessment process to help the staff develop an individualized treatment plan. Though each program varies, treatment works within the structure of individual, group and family therapy using evidence-based practices such as CBT and DBT. Depending on the client (and court stipulations), 12-step participation may also be required. Those with co-occurring disorders can also receive treatment through additional psychiatric counseling sessions.
Staff includes psychologists, LCSWs, LMHCs, case managers, psychiatric nurses and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Additional services include psychological testing and screening for a variety of needs, including to determine competency to stand trial, as well as psychosocial groups and case management for adolescents, Head Start consultations for children and families and housing assistance as needed. ADSAP evaluations for DUI/DWIs are also available.
