Just east of Orlando in Cocoa, Florida, Space Coast Recovery is a non-profit treatment facility. It’s for men and women struggling with alcohol and substance use. Founded in 1969 and CARF-accredited, it has both residential and outpatient care. Space Coast Recovery helps many homeless and uninsured individuals, as well as person court-ordered people. Perhaps most noteworthy, the facility utilizes a strengths-based treatment model. As a result, individuals gain self-esteem and understand their true value.
Treatment and Staff
Space Coast Recovery seeks to heal the “whole person,” rather than simply treating symptoms. Consequently, incoming clients undergo an extensive evaluation. It includes a psychosocial screening, medical history and account of substance use. After that, the team creates a care plan to meet the needs and circumstances of the client.
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is ideal for individuals transitioning out of residential care back into regular life. The flexible scheduling is perfect for people that need a consistent treatment structure but cannot commit to an inpatient facility. The IOP requires clients to participate in a minimum of nine hours of therapy a week. Upon completion, most individuals transition into the standard outpatient program. Space Coast Recovery has three outpatient locations. They each offer one 90-minute group session a week.
The program integrates evidence-based therapies, problem solving, skills training and 12-step. Clients participate in individual and group therapy rooted in CBT. The facility also teaches relapse prevention techniques and offers psycho-education courses that focus on the disease of addiction. Staff strongly encourage individuals to participate in the local 12-step community. Space Coast Recovery requires clients to maintain employment throughout treatment. Because of this, the facility provides career assistance like resume writing and case management services.
Space Coast Recovery employs a team of therapists and counselors. Dual diagnosis support is available for individuals with co-occurring mental health conditions like depression, anxiety and trauma.
Finally, while Space Coast Recovery does not accept insurance, it can offer treatment on a sliding fee scale. No one will be denied care.
Space Coast Recovery is a non-profit treatment facility that provides comprehensive substance abuse services for a community that might not always have easy access to care. Above all, it seeks to not only treat clients’ addiction but also to empower them to make a lasting positive change. Program participants garner a set of tools that will help them succeed in life. For anyone in the Central Florida area seeking a flexible and comprehensive outpatient curriculum and a dedicated staff, Space Coast Recovery is an excellent option.
