The Basics
The Southside Behavioral Lifestyle Enrichment Center (SBLEC), located in the southwest Atlanta suburb of East Point, Georgia, offers adults struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders evidence-based treatment in an outpatient setting. Its CARF-accredited programs include individual and group therapy, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid addiction and medication maintenance. Additionally, this facility offers ambulatory detox along with educational services and relapse prevention strategies in a caring and supportive environment.
Treatment and Staff
SBLEC offers treatment on a phase system; which includes stabilization through detox, counseling, psychoeducation, as well as health resources and life skills training. The clientele is a mix of court-ordered and self-referred. The programs are individualized and aim to identify the root of the addiction. Throughout treatment, clients work closely with their counselor to design a goal-oriented plan with frequent drug screens and monitoring. Once the client and therapist decide that goals in the program have been achieved, they work towards a transition and aftercare plan.
Therapeutic approaches are broad and can include a multitude of modalities like CBT, EMDR, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Treatment also incorporates the principles of 12-step recovery, directs clients to local AA/NA meetings and helps connect him or her with a sponsor. SBLEC also has groups that focus on relapse prevention, vocational and coping skills.
For clients in need of MAT, methadone is provided as a way to stabilize but eventually taper off and stop using opiates all together.
The substance abuse programs at Southside Behavioral are are accredited by both CARF and The Joint Commission (TJC). They are overseen by certified clinical and medical staff with many years of experience working in the addiction field. Credentials include LPC and LCSW.
Extras
If needed, medical services and transportation to and from the facility are also available. There are monthly alumni functions as well as family and couples therapy.
