The Basics
Southern California Recovery Centers (SCRC) operates outpatient treatment facilities in Laguna Beach and Encinitas, California. Co-founded by program directors Morgan Richardson and Daniel Duclos in 2006, these men-only programs offer substance abuse treatment as well as help to those with co-occurring disorders. SCRC also operates a sober living network under the same name.
Treatment and Staff
SCRC offers individualized treatment plans, using a mixture of evidence-based practices, 12-step philosophy and holistic modalities. Clients are asked to commit to three to six months of care, depending on the initial assessment. Detox is not available.
Treatment consists of individual therapy and group counseling using CBT and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET). Groups focus on relapse prevention, coping skills training and psychoeducation—AA and NA meetings are also offered on-site. While individual schedules differ, all sessions take place between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm, Mondays through Fridays. Supplementary therapy and medication management are also available for those struggling with co-occurring disorders.
Staff is made up of physicians, psychologists, CASACs and addiction specialists with Master’s-level training.
Extras
Physical fitness and wellness are part of the recovery curriculum, which includes a dietary consultation. Wellness groups that cover healthy eating and self-care are also offered.
A family program with a weekly schedule of therapy and education groups is available at the Laguna Beach location, four times a week from 10 am to 12 pm. These groups cover the science of addiction and aim to educate family members about the disease.
