The Basics
Located in Chula Vista, California, South County Center for Change is an outpatient alcohol and drug treatment facility for court-ordered clientele. As a subsidiary of Mental Health Systems, a behavioral health organization founded in 1978, SCCC provides clients with evidence-based treatment through traditional therapeutic methods.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial assessment, clients are given an individualized treatment plan that includes group and individual therapy relaying primarily on CBT and REBT. Treatment is aimed at changing criminal thinking and behavior and lasts for a minimum of one year. Regular and random drug testing are also part of the recovery program.
Since programs are planned in accordance with court guidelines, 12-step meetings may also be required. Though all clients are referrals from the San Diego Superior Court Adult Drug Courts, those with serious violent or sexual offenses are not eligible for the treatment.
The facility also provides case management services, the extent of which varies from client to client. This includes referrals into detox, residential treatment, sober living and other community-oriented programs.
Staff includes CATCs, Master’s-level clinicians and case managers.
Extras
Primary care is followed by an additional six months of aftercare, free of charge. The facility maintains strong relationships with the local judicial system, which can be beneficial to clients looking for additional assistance or advice on their cases. Additionally, South County Center for Change offers assistance with job searches and training.
