The Basics
Founded in 1975, South Beach Addiction Treatment Center is a short-term inpatient facility for alcohol and drug addiction in Staten Island, New York. The facility is CARF-accredited and operated through the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS). It provides treatment to adult men and women.
Accommodations and Food
South Beach Addiction Treatment Center has a total of 30 beds available for men and women. Residents stay in gender-separate, dorm-style rooms shared between two people; each with twin beds, dressers and closet space. The facility also includes on-site laundry, group meeting rooms and common areas where residents can relax during down time. Throughout their stay, all clients are served three meals a day in the on-site cafeteria.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients meet with staff members so that an individualized plan can be developed. Treatment works within the structure of individual and group therapy that uses evidence-based practices, like CBT. Groups focus on relapse prevention, gender-specific issues, anger management, dual diagnosis support and 12-step recovery. Detox is not provided; however, medical and psychiatric oversight is also provided, as are experiential therapy groups, meditation and art therapy. Stays generally last between two to six weeks.
The staff at South Beach Addiction Treatment Center consists of physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, CACs and LCSWs.
Extras
Additional services include family counseling, aftercare planning services and alumni-based volunteers that offer a range of services for clients in treatment; like transportation to off-site AA/NA meetings, answering questions about recovery and organizing sober activities.
