Solutions Recovery Center Review
Florida’s Delray Beach is studded with rehabs, and one of the newer enterprises to hit the strand is Solutions Recovery Center. Founded in 2013 by recovering alcoholic and licensed therapist Dan Callahan, Solutions provides men’s-only drug and alcohol residential treatment to 24 clients at a time.
Accommodations and Food
Like most Florida rehabs, Solutions houses its residents in separate buildings from its clinical facility. The homes are airy and modern, with tile and wood floors throughout. Clients share bedrooms and cooking takes place in each house’s fully-equipped kitchen. The outdoor relaxation space is complete with a patio and a small, grassy backyard area. At the main facility, the carpeted meditation room stores yoga mats on the floor and features bamboo along one wall and a picture of the Buddha on another. Cell phones, laptops and smoking are all allowed.
Treatment and Staff
Solutions gives each client what they call a “Triangle” therapeutic team which consists of a primary therapist (called a “TheraCoach”), a counselor (called an “Innovator”) and a meditation specialist. The team facilitates a weekly regimen of individual therapy, group therapy, 12-step meetings, holistic treatment and a family program.
A major bonus of Solutions’ program is clients getting to see their primary therapists twice a week (rather than just once, as at many facilities). They also get a significant amount of choice in which groups they attend. Solutions follows a “non-confrontational approach” to addiction heavy on psycho-education and motivational interviewing, so residents should expect more emphasis on compassion and positive thinking than tough love. All overnight staff members are licensed drug counselors.
Solutions also promotes their aftercare option which they call “The Break Free Plan.” This plan entails having a counselor accompany each qualifying client back to their home state to ensure they don’t relapse. The Break Free counselors also serve to connect clients to a 12-step sponsor and any necessary psychiatric professionals in their hometown, as well as to facilitate family reintegration.
Extras
Most clients work a 12-step program, but those who are averse to AA can also choose a track emphasizing mindfulness led by a Buddhist monk. The alternative includes yoga, meditation, drum therapy and talking circles. There’s also a faith-based track not tied to any one religion. As far as recreation goes, beach field trips are a fun addition to this treatment program.
In Summary
Solutions is a newer facility still growing into its programming. That said, it is still on par with its competitors, and even has a slight advantage when it comes to offering a variety of treatment paths.
