The Basics
Located in Dallas, Texas, Solutions Outpatient Services has been in operation since 1995, offering outpatient substance abuse and eating disorder treatment to adults. The owner and executive director, Lois Jordan, is a LCSW and LCDC who was the former Executive Director of CARE (Chemical Awareness Resources & Education) and ran her own private counseling practice for many years.
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, perspective clients undergo an initial assessment that helps the staff develop an individualized treatment plan. All programs consist of individual, group and family therapy and clients are required to attend regular off-site 12-step meetings.
The program is broken down into three phases. Phase one usually lasts 10 to 12 weeks and requires that clients attend group four nights a week, Monday through Thursday, from 6 to 9 pm. It also requires family group sessions two nights a week, from 6 to 7:30 pm on Tuesdays and 6 to 9 pm on Thursdays. Both clients and family members are asked to attend outside support groups and get sponsors during this phase.
Phase two usually lasts two to four weeks with the client attending two groups a week, regular outside support meetings and two nights a week of family sessions. Individual therapy is scheduled as needed. Upon successful completion of phase two, clients typically step down to the aftercare phase.
Treatment employs evidence-based practices, such as CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). For clients requiring dual diagnosis support, a consulting addiction psychiatrist provides therapy and medication management are as necessary.
In addition to Jordan, the Solutions team consists of LCSWs, LCDCs and administrative support staff.
Extras
The third phase of treatment is aftercare, which can last up to one year and involves the client attending group one night a week and family sessions one night a month.
Additional services include drug and alcohol assessments for those who are facing DUI charges, eating disorder treatment and stand-alone therapy programs.
