Founded in 2011 by Richard McDonald and Jonathan Mercer, Solutions Group Inc. provides gender-specific, as well as co-ed sober living in Massachusetts. Locations include Boston, Dorchester, Falmouth and Quincy. Its mission is to provide safe and secure housing for men and women in recovery from chemical dependency, as well as to offer supportive services.
Accommodations and Amenities
The Solutions Group has four houses in Dorchester, two residences in Quincy, one house in Falmouth and one in South Boston. There is one co-ed residence, three male-only and four female-only locales. Most houses accommodate between 12 and 15 clients, except for the male-only Grove Hall location in Dorchester and the male-only Falmouth house, which are larger.
Clients are typically paired in double-occupancy rooms. Single rooms are available for an additional monthly fee. The Grove Hall house is a 6,500 square foot structure and lodges 30 men. The Grove Hall house includes five bathrooms, flat screen TV’s in every room, two live in house managers and surveillance cameras on the premises. The Falmouth house lodges about 30 men, and overlooks a lake. On the premises, there is a fire pit and a private dock.
A female-only house in Quincy features a newly renovated kitchen with wood tiled floors, sparkling white cabinets and matching appliances. The rooms include ample closet space, twin beds with decorative comforters and large bathrooms with walk-in showers.
All houses include fully equipped kitchens. Clients are responsible for their own groceries and meal preparation. Amenities include Wi-Fi, Cable TV (including sports channels), laundry facilities and all utilities. Onsite staff provides around the clock supervision.
Rules and Regulations
Solutions Group accepts clients at various levels of sobriety, but all individuals must have undergone detox. Those needing these services are provided with medical referrals. Each house has different rules, but typically, all clients must attend regular 12-step meetings in the community and participation at the house meeting is mandatory.
Residents are subject to random drug and alcohol screening. Solutions Group has a zero tolerance policy. Those who have relapsed are immediately dismissed from the premises. On an average, the curfew is 10 pm Sundays through Thursdays, and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Other services provided, at an additional cost, include sober coaching, resume building, transportation, insurance paperwork services and vocational assistance. All of the houses are located within close proximity to public transportation.
Solutions Group provides safe and structured sober living for men and women at different levels of recovery. With several locations in the Boston area, there are plenty of options for those who need a bed. For clients seeking a sober living house with a quaint East Coast setting, Solutions Group is the answer they are seeking.
