The Basics
Founded in 1997 in St. Petersburg, Florida by CEO Wayne A. Grosnick, Solutions Behavioral Healthcare Consultants, most commonly referred to as Solutions, provides outpatient treatment for substance abuse and addiction as well as dual diagnosis support for adult, adolescent, criminal justice and LGBT clients. Besides outpatient care, it also offers an employment assistance program (EAP), services for impaired medical professionals and in-jail assessments for incarcerated men and women. In 2006, Solutions moved to a 3,000-square foot office inside a business building in Largo. The spacious facility includes group rooms, private counseling offices and administrative offices. Solutions has two lobbies, so that clients can maintain their discretion as they enter and leave treatment.
Treatment and Staff
Prior to admittance, individuals meet with counselors to develop individualized treatment plans. The weekly Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) uses evidence-based protocol and includes nine hours of group therapy. Individual therapy is scheduled per client’s needs. Length of IOP is generally about three months but can vary for each person.
Besides being therapeutic, groups are also psycho-educational, educating clients on drug and alcohol addiction. Other group topics include life skills, relationships, anger management, relapse prevention, co-occurring disorders, family and relationship issues, coping and social skills. Gender-specific groups are also facilitated. Groups range in size, with usually no more than 10 clients per session.
Clients requiring psychotropic medication for co-occurring disorders are provided with referrals for medication management. While attendance at 12-step meetings is encouraged, participation is not mandatory.
The juvenile IOP parallels the adult IOP track, also including treatment for younger criminal justice and LGBT clients. Additionally, family counseling is offered for both adult and adolescent tracks. The outpatient track is offered as a step down to IOP, and usually includes one weekly group session and individual therapy, scheduled per each client’s needs.
Besides CEO Grosnick, who is a Master’s-level certified addiction professional, staff includes a Master’s-level certified mental health counselor/certified sex offender treatment specialist and Master’s-level chief administrator.
Extras
Solutions provides drug offender psychotherapy classes, offender assessments, psychological and personality testing, compulsive gambling assessment and treatment and workplace programs which include seminars, Employee Assistant Programs and drug testing.
