wilmington DelawareThe Basics

SODAT Delaware, Inc. is the oldest outpatient treatment facility for substance abuse in Delaware, serving Wilmington and the surrounding areas. SODAT offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), focusing on treatment, prevention, education and intervention for those suffering from substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.

Treatment and Staff

SODAT serves both adult and adolescent clients, using a biopsychosoical model that incorporates education about chemical dependency and evidence-based treatments including MET, CBT, individual, group and family therapies as well as dual diagnosis support. While a 12-step approach is not emphasized, clients are highly encouraged to attend meetings. To help ensure long-lasting recovery, SODAT’s IOP lasts anywhere from three to nine months, depending on the client, their needs and their progress.

Both certified and highly skilled, the SODAT staff is comprised of psychiatrists, LCSWs and CDACs who provide a holistic approach to treatment. With the permission from each individual, staff work closely with their primary care doctor and outside therapists to coordinate care across the spectrum.

While most clients are referred from residential treatment programs, probation agencies or the court system, some clients are self-referrals. Treatment at SODAT is funded by private insurers, Medicaid, contractual arrangements with referral sources or private pay. For those paying out of pocket, a sliding-scale option is available.

Extras

Being a small facility, SODAT staff provides personalized attention and care to all clients. Their holistic approach includes peace management—a process through which the staff assist clients with coping mechanisms to help them deal with any and all of life’s stresses. Beyond helping clients establish sobriety, SODAT’s goal is to improve both client insight and self-sufficiency and to help foster a motivation for maintaining abstinence.

SODAT also offers early intervention services for adolescents, an adult drug court diversion program, federal probation outpatient treatment services and pre-employment drug screening.

In Summary

SODAT is a small-scale IOP with a highly-trained staff providing treatment services to individuals and families in the Delaware area struggling with chemical dependency issues. Using a 12-step philosophy and experience-based therapy, SODAT offers a high-quality treatment to those in need, regardless of their financial circumstances.
