The Basics
As a branch of the Center for Integrated Family Health Services, the Sober Solutions Program offers a continuum of care in Covina, California. The organization has provided substance abuse and mental health support services for residents in San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles County since 1979. Sober Solutions offers comprehensive outpatient treatment for adults and adolescents diagnosed with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
Treatment and Staff
Those interested in outpatient services must first schedule an assessment. Once evaluated, clients are assigned to one of three levels of treatment. Level Three is a six month Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). Clients in the PHP attend group sessions five days per week for a total 15 hours per week. The program utilizes an integrated approach to addiction treatment using CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Group therapy topics include relapse prevention, seeking safety, coping skills, identifying triggers, a co-occurring disorders group and 12-step integration.
Clients must attend four AA/NA meetings per week and have attendance slips signed. In addition, there is one individual therapy session per month and weekly urinalysis testing is conducted. Clients with co-occurring disorders are seen by a psychiatrist once a month for medication management.
In the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) clients attend group therapy three times per week for a total of nine hours. The duration is six months with a monthly individual therapy session. Clients are required to attend three 12-step meetings per week. Group topics are similar to those in PHP with less frequency and as with PHP, weekly urinalysis testing is conducted.
The basic outpatient program requires clients to attend two group sessions per week for a total of three months. Topics are similar to the previous levels but with less frequency. Individuals must attend a minimum of two AA/NA meetings per week and attendance cards must be signed. As with the other two tracks, there is monthly individual therapy and weekly urinalysis testing.
The teen program is typically three months long with two group sessions per week. Therapy methods include MI and CBT and groups discuss family dynamics, managing stress, coping skills and peer pressure. The age range is 11 to 17 and those under 16 must have parental consent.
While family therapy is not mandatory for any program, significant others are encouraged to attend sessions with the client and co-dependent groups. The Sober Solutions treatment team consists of psychiatrists, psychologists and CASACs.
Extras
In addition to recovery groups, Sober Solutions offers parenting classes, an anger management group and domestic violence group for clients wishing to support their sobriety with information and education about potential trigger in behavior and relationships.

For individuals who do not need to intensity of a residential or inpatient program, Sober Solutions has thorough outpatient support and a long history of proven evidence-based success.
