The Basics
Treatment Centers XL is a chemical dependency treatment facility located in Lone Tree, Colorado. Founded in 1997, Treatment Centers XL was the first facility in the US to utilize Infusion Treatment Therapy (ITT) alongside standard psychological interventions. The intention behind the ITT is to expedite recovery from Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS) so clients can focus on understanding the foundational issues that contribute to their chronic substance abuse. Treatment Centers XL shares a campus as Sky Ridge Medical Center but is otherwise not directly associated with it. The XL office is in The Conifer Building, one of two medical buildings attached to Sky Ridge with offices independently owned and operated.
Treatment and Staff
Prior to admission, clients are scheduled for a phone interview which is followed by a full bio-psycho-social assessment. The assessment process determines the presence of co-occurring disorders and if the client needs a medically supervised detox. Treatment Centers XL uses a wide range of treatment techniques to help clients. Program duration is determined by case managers and the client.
All clients participate in the ITT. For the first 10 days, all clients are given an infusion of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that help the body recover from PAWs. After the 10 days, clients move to ITT three times a week for two weeks, then once per week for the remainder of treatment.
Typically, dopamine levels return to normal after the 10 days or within the first month of treatment. During the ITT process, clients participate in individual therapy. The clinical staff utilizes EMDR, relapse prevention and biofeedback. Group therapy is also an essential part of the process so that clients can support each other and keep one another accountable.
For the first 60 days of recovery, clients are supervised at all times by a personal recovery coach who assists with developing life skills—including shopping for groceries, exercise, 12-step meetings and more. Additional assistance for health issues and more are accommodated to ensure the client feels comfortable and cared for during their treatment process. All clients are seen by mental health professionals who are Master’s-level professionals. Credentials include LCSWs, physicians, registered nurses and LPC.
Extras
Treatment Centers XL offers many extras to maximize the health and life quality of the client, including up to four sessions of alternative methods such as acupuncture and massage and one rolfing session.
The organization also offers clients the option of staying at a residential living facility with sober coaches while undergoing treatment at the facility. It’s worth noting that while Treatment Centers XL has a solid relationship with the sober living house, it is owned and run separately.
Aftercare is available for clients and includes continuation of individual and group sessions for up to a year. Aftercare is individualized to the client and their recovery goals.
