The Basics
Located in the state’s largest city of Fargo, North Dakota Simon CD Services is a private outpatient facility. Simon provides substance abuse and mental health treatment to adults and adolescents. Using evidence-based techniques, clients work on their behaviors under the guidance of a licensed, experienced staff that supports them through the recovery process.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment begins with a consultation to decide the best course of action. After the initial assessment, an individualized treatment plan for each person is developed. Clients have the option to participate in the formal outpatient or intensive outpatient (IOP) programs or work with a counselor to create a customized plan for their recovery that includes help on an individual, group or family basis. The facility also provides dual diagnosis support for those with co-occurring disorders. Detox is not offered, but referrals can be made.
Clients are treated using CBT and DBT, in both group and individual therapy. Those in IOP participate in group therapy three times a week for three hours. Groups are available in both the afternoons and evenings and kept on the small side, maxing out at 10 clients. Topics include trauma, processing feelings, stress management, life skills and anger management. Individual therapy is scheduled once a week for each IOP client, but the number may increase depending on need. Family therapy is also an option if it is necessary.
Once IOP has been completed, clients have the option to step down into the regular outpatient program which consists of once weekly meetings for three hours. During this phase, there’s a heavy emphasis on relapse prevention and assisting clients in monitoring challenges and progress.
The staff are licensed chemical dependency counselors and Master’s-level therapists.
Extras
Simon CD offers DUI evaluations and a drug and alcohol education programs for both adults and adolescents who are court-ordered to seek treatment.
