The Basics
Shelby County Counseling Center has provided the residents of West-Central Ohio with mental health and substance abuse treatment for over 20 years. Located in Sidney, a small city 40 miles north of Dayton, SCCC is a CARF-accredited facility and offers Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), therapy, case management and crisis-stabilization services.
Treatment and Staff
SCCC offers three levels of outpatient care: an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), standard outpatient program and an aftercare program. Each track typically lasts eight weeks, and many clients begin treatment at the IOP level and then step down to lower levels of care, spending a total of six months in treatment.
IOP clients attend group therapy three times a week and usually have individual therapy once a week. Standard outpatient clients have group therapy twice a week and individual therapy as-needed. Aftercare clients attend group therapy once a week.
The treatment team at SCCC includes an addictionologist, LCDCs and psychologists. The treatment team uses the Matrix Model and the Living in Balance curriculum in therapy. Clients are also strongly encouraged to attend 12-step or other peer support meetings while in treatment. SCCC’s mental health team is available to provide therapy and medication to clients needing dual diagnosis support, and MAT with Vivitrol is available to some clients, as well.
Extras
SCCC encourages families to take an active role in treatment, and clients may bring family members to individual therapy for counseling. SCCC’s treatment team also helps families who are seeking additional support locate Alanon meetings in their area. SCCC also offers a 72-hour diversion program for residents who have received DUIs.
