The Basics
Sheboygan County Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Center has been providing outpatient substance abuse treatment for over 30 years. Clients must be residents of Sheboygan County in West-Central Illinois. In addition to substance abuse treatment—which is offered at the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) level of care—the Center also provides extensive psychiatric services and crisis intervention.
Treatment and Staff
After an assessment, clients receive a treatment plan that includes group therapy three times a week for three hours and individual therapy as-needed. Clients who may have aversions to participating in group therapy due to trauma may begin their treatment with one-on-one sessions in lieu of groups. Most clients complete their IOP treatment plan in 12 weeks, though clients in need of continued support can extend treatment.
The treatment team includes Master’s-level therapists, including psychologists and MWSs, and CADCs who use CBT and other evidence-based modalities to help clients manage triggers, build coping skills and self-esteem and learn relapse prevention. Clients are also encouraged to attend 12-step or other peer support meetings while enrolled in the IOP.
Clients in need of dual diagnosis support receive referrals to therapists and psychiatrists on the Center’s mental health treatment team.
Extras
For aftercare, clients can attend a weekly relapse prevention group.
