The Basics
Shalom, Inc. was founded in 1973 as a school-based addiction prevention program. Over time, it has become a school and community-based non-profit agency providing a variety of programs and services to individuals of every faith.
Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, clients have access to a range of resources to aid them on their path to recovery. Shalom, Inc.’s outpatient counseling services are available to both clients and the broader community seeking support for substance abuse and addiction.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment at Shalom, Inc. begins with an initial evaluation and assessment to determine the unique needs of the client and to develop an individualized treatment plan. Clients are required to meet with their counselor at least once a week for individual therapy during which staff utilize CBT methods. The attendance frequency and type of group therapy is dependent upon each client’s unique treatment plan, however participation at least twice a week is encouraged and involvement in a 12-step program is required.
Addiction education seminars and groups are also offered to clients and their families to help better understand the nature of chemical dependency and how to navigate through addiction and recovery. Random drug tests and breathalyzers are also administered throughout the program to help clients meet their goals of being substance free.
The staff at Shalom, Inc. consists of psychologists, LCSWs, clinicians and Master’s-level therapists.
Extras
In addition to a comprehensive substance abuse treatment program, Shalom, Inc. also offers treatment for a variety of other behavioral health problems as well. Both high school and grade school prevention and intervention programs, a DUI program, support for problem gambling, juvenile treatment court and a student assistance program are all available to clients and the Philadelphia area community.
