The Basics
Located in Louisville, Kentucky, Jefferson Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center (JADAC), a division of Seven Counties Services, is an 80-bed inpatient and outpatient facility that treats adults with addictions and their families. The outpatient treatment offered at JADAC provides individualized and gender-specific programs including Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and educational services. The programs offer group and individual therapy sessions throughout the programs that evidence based therapy practices and include elements of the 12 steps.
Treatment and Staff
Outpatient services are generally for clients who have already participated in the detox and residential program at JADAC. These programs are typically between four and 12 weeks and there are both a men’s and women’s only programs, and a mixed gender group. The men’s only and mixed gender groups meet two to four times weekly from 6 to 9 pm. The women’s only program meets five days a week from 8:45 am to noon, and includes a specialty program for pregnant and postpartum women with addictions.
The IOP programming consists of group therapy sessions and psychoeducational lectures that cover relapse prevention, coping skills, life skills and frequent on-site AA or NA meetings. The staff at JADAC encourages their clients to obtain a sponsor and get community support during their time in treatment. Weekly individual sessions are integrated on a regular basis, though the counselors make themselves available at all times for clients if they need to talk. The gender specific programs are designed to handle sensitive topics and address issues like anger management, parenting skills and trauma. The staff at JADAC are experienced addiction counselors that are LADCs, LCSWs, CSACs, LMFTs and peer support specialists.
Extras
A weekly family program is offered at JADAC that offers multi-family group therapy once a week for four weeks. Sessions are held Thursday evenings at 5:45 pm. These sessions are available to anyone that’s related or close to a current client that is 13 or older. There is also aftercare planning during all stages of treatment at JADAC that is free for all graduates.
