The Basics
With locations in Clifton, Ewing, Cranford, Piscataway and Toms River, New Jersey, SERV Behavioral Health System, Inc. is an expansive non-profit that was founded in 1974. Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients undergo an initial intake and assessment so that staff members can develop an individualized treatment plan for them. While the specifics of each plan may vary, treatment includes both individual and group therapy that uses evidence-based practices, such as CBT and DBT. Support for clients with co-occurring disorders is offered via additional therapy and medication management. Groups cover a range of topics including anger management, relapse prevention and addiction as disease. While not strictly required, clients are also encouraged to attend off-site 12-step meetings. As programs are customized, length of treatment may vary as well.
The staff at SERV Behavioral Health System, Inc. consists of LACs, LMHCs, CADCs, RNs, MDs, psychiatrists and additional Master’s and PhD-level clinicians.
Extras
Additional services include mental health counseling for depression, adolescent issues, divorce and social skills. Those with more severe mental health issues can take advantage of SERV’s community reintegration program, which includes supervised group homes, partially-supervised apartments and independent living. Vocational services and therapy for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities is also available. After primary care, clients can continue to attend outpatient therapy on a stepped-down basis as aftercare.
