Serenity at Summit ResidentialThe Basics

As part of the part of the Summit Behavioral Health systems network, Serenity at Summit offers substance abuse treatment services from two locations on the east coast. Serenity at Summit provides holistic treatments in luxury accommodations, with detox and residential services available in Haverhill, Massachusetts and detox and outpatient care provided in Union, New Jersey.

Accommodations and Food

The detox and residential quarters of the Haverhill location are adjacent to each other, with the detox process taking place in a state of the art medical facility. The detox only faculty located in Union City also offers top of the line treatment in comfortable and spacious quarters. During the five to seven day detox in either location, clients are in private rooms with bathrooms, many of which are handicap accessible with showers. Around-the-clock medical care is provided to ensure the most comfortable experience possible.

After detox, if the client is moving into the residential treatment, they are placed in a facility that offers both private and semi-private rooms furnished with full beds, night stands, a dresser, desk and flat screen televisions in each room. All linens and towels are provided by the facility for each client. The simple and soothingly decorated facility resembles a day spa, and offers many of the same amenities; yoga, acupuncture, massage and meditation to name a few. There is a room where clients can relax and watch movies or read, a fitness room with cardio machines, and lush, well manicured grounds. In addition to the living quarters, the facility conveniently has the therapy and meetings rooms on site, as well as laundry machines, and a dining room that offers buffet style meals. A staff chef who designs healthy meal options and serves the clients three times a day prepares all food and snacks.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment is evidence based and individualized to the client’s specific needs. A typical day includes morning meditation followed by a group therapy session or psychoeducational lecture. Therapy methods include CBTDBT, the 12 steps and relapse prevention techniques. There are several group therapy sessions per day, focusing on anger management or communication skills, and once a week individual therapy in which the assigned clinician may employ the biofeedback approach. Some clients may enter into treatment with an existing co-occurring disorder, and in that case medication management is arranged and monitored in addition to therapeutic treatment. Holistic options as well are integrated into every day therapy, and overall wellness is emphasized. For the most part, clients participate in treatment for about 90 days.

The clinical staff offers many years of experience in the addiction field with accreditations that include CADCs, LADCs, Master’s-level LCSWs, MFTs, medical doctors and nurses.

Extras

There are weekly family programs offered at the facility that can be in a group or individual setting. An aftercare program or outpatient referrals are provided during the client stay.

In Summary

The holistic approaches and luxury living Serenity at Summit provide their clients high quality addiction treatment. The clinicians strive to show every client that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and guide him or her towards a healthier and happier existence.

  2. The only good thing about this place is the beds and the food, if ur serious about your recovery I wouldn’t go here. They turned their backs on me right after detox because they said I had behavioral issues, and when I called to talk to them about it they would not talk to me. They said it was inappropriate to talk to me over the phone and that they will not except me as a patient for residential. So I basically gave up and relapsed the same day they desided I wasn’t worth getting sobar
