The Basics
Serenity Now is a mental health and substance abuse treatment center that offers a variety of different resources to its community in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Addiction treatment options include a regular outpatient track, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
Treatment and Staff
Serenity Now utilizes various forms of therapy to focus on the many different aspects of addiction. The program is individualized and may consist of individual therapy on a daily basis, a weekly basis or several times a day, depending on the client. Participants are also expected to attend 12-step oriented group sessions based on the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous on a weekly basis.
The standard outpatient program is intended for those who do not need detox and wish to maintain a somewhat regular work or school schedule. The IOP is intended for those who have completed detoxification but still need a somewhat structured treatment program. The IOP typically consists of group sessions several times a week and individual therapy at least once a week. Clients focus on understanding the nature of their compulsion and how their using affected those around them. There are also specific co-occurring disorders groups, which focus on balancing their illness without turning to drinking.
The PHP is more intensive, requiring clients to attend sessions between five to seven days a week and spending the night if necessary. A typical day consists of individual therapy where clients work on their specific goals, a group therapy session, psychoeducation, life skills training, and medication management. Clients are also encouraged to attend off-site AA/NA meetings.
Depending on the client’s individual case and needs, the types of treatments implemented during therapy may vary. Some of the forms offered are Motivational Interviewing (MI), CBT, DBT and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). The staff consists of a primary therapist, a psychiatrist, other specialized therapists, and a medical staff.
Extras
Serenity Now also offers art and music therapy, yoga and meditation classes. Family sessions may be scheduled separately for those in these programs.
